Hampton Inn not paying its employees

I wonder if this is representative of ALL Hampton Inns. ARTICLE

Commercials

Hampton Inn commercials are the STUPIDEST and gayest of any hotel. Obviously, using the Beatle's songs blows, but all the other are even lamer. Gross.

Hampton Inn construction on land claimed by Native Americans

Native American protesters are blocking construction of a new Hampton Inn hotel in Brandtford, Ontario, Canada. Members of the Six Nations shut down the work site because a land claim's dispute. Here's the article. Once again, there are no comments issued by Hampton Inn on the matter, though I'm sure the corporate division had to have given approval for the new hotel site before building began. As we all know, Hampton Inn Sucks and Blows!

Hampton Inn employee fights off attempted rape!!

Thank god the woman working behind the desk at this Hampton Inn in New Jersey escaped, see article.
What's truly amazing is that her BLOODY fingerprint was found on the panic button behind the desk that she tried to repeatedly press thinking she was calling the police during the 30 minute ordeal while the man pursued her and tore her clothes off.
Guess what? The panic button WASN'T WORKING!! Here's a link to the local news report. Beware, it's disturbing. Amazing, the manager, the next day, had put this message on the marquee outside "Front Desk Help Wanted".
Still, thank god she didn't suffer more harm than was done.

HAMPTON INN BLOWS BLOWS BLOWS!

Hilton Hotels Corporation Rolls out Flexible Work-at-Home Program

Just announced reservation agent "work-at-home" plan. I wonder if those employees working from home are given computers to take, tech support on their computers, and if not, depreciation cost on their own computers? Of course the article fails to mention how much money will be saved by the company because of saved office space. I can imagine them cutting back on child care offerings for their employees by simply saying, "Hey, why not work at home?" I also imagine "work at home" means "work in Bangledesh and the Philippines" where wages are low low low.
Thanks Hilton, you're REALLY looking out for us!!!
HILTON@HOME BLOWS almost as much as HAMPTON INN BLOWS!!

Bed Bugs at your local Hampton Inn??

I wonder if the Hotel that Blows has done anything about the series of complaints regarding BED BUGS at a few of their locations (including its big sister, the Hilton)?
Has this ever happened to you?? article

My friends at the Consumerist, a website that allows people like us to voice complaints without being covered up by the big corporate machines, have this great article on BED BUGS at hotels.

Email me your experiences, I'd like to share them with others.

For anyone who wants up close and personal views of the BED BUGS, look here.

I bet they wished they'd stayed away from that NASTY Hampton Inn hot tub!

Three more people confirmed with Legionnaires's Disease after hopping in the Hampton Inn hot tub. Here's the article. I can't find a quote from the hotel. I looked on the corporate website to try to see if there is a press release, apology, expression of sympathy, etc., but nothing. The latest press release was an announcement of the refurbishing of Laura Ingalls Wilder's "Little House". Hampton Inn REALLY blows!!

Two Contract Legionnaires' Disease At Illinois Hampton Inn

I'm surprised (not really seeing as how Hampton Inn overtly lures journalists to cover inane aspects of the hotel chain) that the national media has not covered this story. Read article. Maybe Legionnaires is now an every day occurence, but I don't think so.

Background checks, again

I wonder when the hotel chain will require background checks on new employees.  Here's another reason why.

Sorry so lazy!

I apologize for not posting consistently over the past few weeks. Actual work has gotten in the way. A quick search of news items mentioning Hampton Inn find this puzzling piece.  It seems a Hampton Inn owner and attorneys are trying to block a strip club from doing business nearby using a lame legal argument.  Who do they think frequents Hampton Inns anyway?  It certainly isn't families taking advantage of that lame free breakfast or the luxurious pool!

Where are the critical articles?

I'm astounded at the lack of news articles critical of Hampton Inn or the hotel industry in general. As in my experience of trying to buy www.hamptoninnsucks.com, oops sorry, it belongs to Hampton Inn, who conveniently take you back to their corporate page, there appears to be a systematic attempt by corporations to eliminate any possible negative discussion of their products.
I'm sure there was a brave fellow or lass who bought hamptoninnsucks.com with the intention of providing a forum for thought to run free. I speculate that this brave soul was quickly offered $10,000 or so to transfer ownership to Hampton Inn. Seriously, go to www.hamptoninnsucks.com and see. It's surreal.
I noticed while carousing the Hampton Inn corporate site that they offer discounts to journalists to stay at the hotel. If you agree to write about Hampton Inn, you get to stay free! The page states that the company in no way requires positive press for providing the free rooms. Give me a break. I would love to see a few of the negative articles that resulted from stays at the Inn that Blows!
Way to buy the good press Hampton Inn. You BLOW!

more Beatles

I've found a short excerpt from another blogger who sums up my feelings on the use of a Beatles song. The title is appropriately, Hampton Cringe.

Or maybe this happy customer.

Hey Hampton Inn . . . you BLOW!

Hampton Inn using Beatle's songs

Gross and repulsive! I just saw the Hampton Inn commercial using the Beatles "A Little Help From My Friends." Is sacrilege an appropriate word? When the hotel that Blows first used a song from the Sound of Music a while back, I at least thought it was a cool version of a song that every warm-blooded American boy grew up making fun of. Crapping on the Beatles is another thing though. I can barely contain my disgust that they would not only destroy a great song, but in all likelihood, pay an exorbitant amount through the Michael Jackson estate (who co-owns the Beatles catalog with Sony).

Thanks for propping up Jacko, idiots. Thanks for attempting to ruin the Beatles legacy, fools.

Yes, Hampton Inn Blows.

And the winner is . . . ? ? ?

The 2007 JD Powers Guest Satisfaction Survey for Mid-scale Limited Service Hotels gives the overall best in category to . . . Drury Inn.
Sorry Hampton, you lost. :-( At least you beat Howard Johnson! But of course your rates are much higher too aren't they?

"Innovation or Spin?"

I found this article on a hotel expert blog. It quotes the brand manager of Hampton Inn, Phil Cordell, about some "innovative" new changes at the brand. I'm humming "If I Only Had a Brain" as I type.

Should I remind everyone that Hampton Inn Blows?
I decided to do a quick search for a two nights in Champaign, Illinois for May 6th and 7th on Sidestep.com to compare prices. For the three star hotels listed, here are the results:

Fairfield Inn - $90
Holiday Inn - $99
Holiday Inn Express - $99
Drury Inn & Suites - $114
Homewood Suites - $125
Courtyard by Marriott - $130
Hampton Inn - $139

Ridiculous, right? Especially since Drury Inn and Hilton's own Homewood Suites consistently BEAT Hampton Inn in overall quality and satisfaction. Is a crappy morning breakfast REALLY worth the $49 dollar per night difference between a Hampton Inn and a Fairfield? Oh, wait, Fairfield offers a breakfast too!

Time for Hampton Inn's leaders to put pressure on corporate Hilton

Students at the University of Southern California are taking up the banner of workers at the Hilton LAX. Read about the issue here. While the article states that Hilton Hotel's California Hotels that are corporate owned are unionized, the corporation needs to put pressure on the owner of the LAX Hilton to allow workers to organize. I believe Hampton Inn makes more money than all the other Hilton properties, so do your duty and ACT!!

100% Satisfaction Guarantee

I'm going to try not to be too much of a jerk here, but sometimes I can't help it. The "100% Satisfaction Guarantee" slogan is so amazingly annoying to me. I'm sorry, but NO ONE is ever 100% satisfied. It's like the idiotic coaches who say "Give it 110%." If I'm giving 100% and somehow I can even give more, well, then I REALLY wasn't giving 100% to begin with. But I digress, this is a Hampton Inn Blows blog.
I understand that Hampton Inn wants to make sure all their guests are satisfied, even to the point of "exceeding expectations" (to grasp another annoying corporate cliche), but use a realistic slogan that would allow your customers to actually communicate with you. If I complain that I want flannel sheets as opposed to the Egyptian cotton, I would be showing that I'm not really 100% satisfied. Is not being 100% satisfied really indicative of being satisfied with my stay? In this case not really. But if Hampton Inn (who Blows by the way) states that I get a refund for not being 100% satisfied, they should stick to it, always, no matter what or how miniscule the lack of satisfaction is
I have reports that they do indeed refund for customer dissatisfaction, but after so many refunds to a particular customer, they will cease doing business with the customer. It's ridiculous, because Hampton itself set the bar at the realistically unattainable 100% satisfaction. I don't think they really mean it in the long run. It's a marketing ploy pure and simple and a good way for corporate to keep up with complaint rates at individual hotels.
Yes, Hampton Inn Blows.

Background checks for employees

I wonder if the hotel industry still is hesitant to do background checks on employees?  Take a look at this article to be truly frightened.

Hotel Pricing

Hotel and airline pricing policies leave me dumbfounded.  Here's a link from a Hampton Inn customer.

Another customer was given the old "bait and switch" for a confirmed rate only to be told she needed to pay a much higher rate upon arrival. At least corporate was of some help in the end. I wonder how many don't bother to call headquarters?

Entering a Hampton Inn

I entered the Hampton Inn in Redding, California and was immediately annoyed by ever-present slogans like "Smile" and "Happy" plastered everywhere on the walls and in the elevators.  Having a positive attitude and outlook is fine, but this is so damn condescending, especially from a hotel.  What?  Am I supposed to enter the elevator after a hard day and think, "Gee, I need to smile.  It's not so bad after all."  So annoying, like being greeted by a robot who says all the right things but lacks genuine emotion or concern.  Next they'll be giving out headphones that will pump "positive thinking" slogans in your head all day.  I'm sure their market research somewhere shows that people want to be treated like morons.

Why does Hampton Inn Blow?

Why does Hampton Inn blow?  Let me count the ways!  Hampton Inn Blows serves as an outlet to vent frustration with all things Hampton Inn.  Bloggers and posters to this site are not affiliated with Hampton Inn or the hotel industry in any shape form or fashion.  We make no money or provide no service to anyone except to those who feel the need to share their feelings or experiences.  I'm sure there are many who want to write only positive statements about Hampton Inn, that is your right or the company's right.  I'm sure those types of posts can be viewed on the official Hampton Inn website or some future blog.  They probably won't be here though, unless unusually funny.
